WMA 2008 Scholarship Recipient
ENS Mary Ann Forster: Mary Ann is seeking an Instrument/Commercial rating and is currently enrolled at Avian Aviation in Bremerton, WA, a part 141 flight school. She has 17 years of military experience and remains committed to serving the Pacific Northwest and her country in the realm of aviation. She is committed to inspiring others as a Flight Instructor and an auxiliary pilot in support of the US Coast Guard. As she says, there is an unspoken obligation to those who laid the foundation for me, to pave the road for others to follow. I not only preach it, I deliver it.
WMA 2007 Scholarship Recipient
Julee Carver, a student at Embry Riddle University in Daytona, FL. Originally from Sellersburg, IN, Julee is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Sciences, a minor in business and a multi-engine instrument license. A long time volunteer in her community, Julee is active in her local WAI chapter and the 99s. Julee is described by her flight instructor as the “best professional pilot candidate I have ever flown with in my 30 years CFII experience”. She is characterized as a natural born leader from a small close knit community where the people all know and love her. Her long term goal is to fly cargo or corporate. She is considering flying for the Air Force with a long term goal to fly for UPS. She will use the WMA scholarship to pursue her CFI rating.

Carole Lynn Dawson a student at University of Kansas at Salina. Carol is a private pilot and WAI student chapter president who is pursuing both her commercial and CFI ratings. A strong leader, Carol organized and flew in her school’s first ever team entry in the Kansas State Air Race Classic. Several qualities describe Carol and her approach to life: tenacity, vision, leadership and passion. In addition to supporting her dream of becoming a professional pilot, she is putting herself through school and she supports her two siblings. Now that is one Wonder Woman!

Dianna W. Hoover is from Winchester, VA and has 673 flight hours. She is studying Aeronautical Science at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and plans to graduate December 2003. She was selected for the Flight Department's Flight leadership/fellowship program, the NIFA competition team and is a resident advisor. Her essay was particularly compelling, describing how she gained a passion for flying and has followed her dreams. She is pursuing a multiengine instructor rating in a Piper Seminole or Seneca.
